Project

Advanced material for cost-efficient and enhanced heat exchange performance for geothermal application
H2020 · GeoHex
Project introduction
GeoHex develops heat-exchanger materials for geothermal plants, using low-cost carbon steel with nano-porous surface modification and Ni-P/Ni-P-PTFE duplex coating on the brine side. The aim is improved anti-scaling and anticorrosion behaviour together with better heat-transfer performance in ORC and related heat exchangers.
Flowphys contribution
Micro-structured surface simulation: condensation, evaporation, bubble and droplet dynamics, surface tension and capillary action; transient large-deformation 3D shells; CFD-LES with ALE; shape optimisation of bi-oleophilic surfaces.
