Project introduction
GEAR-UP develops digital tools and methodologies for using recycled materials in additive manufacturing, covering stainless steel, aluminium alloys and fibre-reinforced plastics. Simulation-driven approaches support process optimisation and sustainable product design, including work aligned with the Digital Product Passport.

Adaptive multi-resolution topology optimisation for anisotropic materials with fatigue constraints and uncertainty quantification for recycled material variability; techno-economic cost models inside the optimisation loop; AI-enhanced physics models; macro-scale FEM elements with optimised infill.
